Darn. Dang. Shoot. This sucks. This bites. Historical? B.S.!!! If this country was so far "progressed" then the color of you-know-who's skin would never have even been brought up. Instead, headlines today read "First BLACK president". Makes me sick. Negative thoughts. Negative thoughts.
More curse words.
*&*)#&^$#(*&*!!
Nope, still not satisfying.
DAMN IT!
There.

i couldn't agree more with you!!!
Atleast 102 passed...we do have one good thing going.
You would not do well in NYC right now - I was awakened in the middle of the night to cheering and shouting, and people are still celebrating. Everyone at the school where I work is so excited (especially the kids). It's definitely interesting to be in a blue state right now.
my thoughts exactly!!
You don't have to worry about damning it--he and both houses of Congress will do it for us...
Shellie, I applaud you for standing so strong. You are a minority in your generation.
I second that notion!
Two quotes:
"What passes for optimism is most often the effect of an intellectual error." - Raymond Aron
“The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.” - Marcus Aurelius
Actually, I was more disappointed when Mitt Romney lost the Republican primary than when John McCain lost the general election to Barak Obama.
Hopefully, the results of this presidential election moves our country beyond race and puts Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and other race hucksters out of a job.
I just hope that I will be able to voice philosophical disagreement with ideology and not be branded or construed as a racist.
I am not sure if your post is motivated by a difference in values/political issues or the color of skin/race, however, based on the plain language of your post I am led to believe it is the latter, which is unfortunate. Whether one supports Obama or not, history has been made and, in my opinion, it is a step in the right direction.
Denten-
You made a great point. While some people differentiate values / political issues from color of skin / race, I would suggest that many cannot or do not / will not.
Without putting words into Shellie's mouth, I believe the post was intended to voice frustration about people's inability to distinguish the true issue of values from the non-issue of race.
While I don't agree with some Obama's stances on political issues and find his strategies and plans lacking in terms of feasibility, his victory was well-earned and he is our president elect. For the sake of our nation and our families, I sincerely hope that he succeeds as president.
I really couldn't care less what color Barack's skin is. No one SHOULD. Yet, I don't think that's the case. If I felt he were qualified, if I felt like I could trust him, then I certainly would have voted for him. I'm irritated/supremely dissapointed in this country, and its hate-filled, overly-sensitive liberals, who do NOT look at the issues, and can NOT get over race and still, in 2008, still bring it up and make it an issue. Why is it okay for there to be such a thing as "black pride"?? It makes NO SENSE.
If you move to Canada like your question on the right, you will have FAR worse problems if you are already that negative about Obama. Canada is more LEFT than we are/will ever be.
Obama is black? Go figure! I just figured I would not vote for him because he is a lefty/socialist. It is an historic election and a step in the right direction: downhill.
Nobody cares if he is black or white. It is his CHARACTER that MLK told us to judge. His character is lefty/socialist.
He won. Fair and square with a majority of the cemeteries votes tallied.
Oh, don't forget the illegals' votes. I'm sure there were plenty of those too...
HA!
